Installing Tail Light Fillers on an 88-98 Fleetside GM Truck

Step 1

Remove tail lights and pull light wiring out through the bottom of the bed

Step 2

Remove the paint from around the tail light area for welding

You can use a grinder for this but we suggest using a wire wheel because it strips the surface down clean without removing metal

Step 3

Place the filler and begin trimming to fit

The tighter fit the better!

Step 4

After fitting, start tack weld ing the corners in place making sure to line the filler as flush as possible to the bed

After the filler is tacked in place, continue tack welding around the perimeter.

Take your time and slowly fill in all gaps with tack welds.

Make sure to completely weld the perimeter....leave NO gaps.

Step 5

Once the filler is welded in place, grind down any high spots and weld beads and prepare for a skim coat of body filler



Sand filler and prime.
