Installing Frenched LED Lights

These installation instructions are for all of our french light kits. Follow these instructions closely for best results.

1) Choose the location to install the buckets. Make sure the measurements are the same on both sides of the vehicle. Write down all measurements. Areas with slight to moderate contour will look the best.

2) Align the french bucket with the measurements you made previously. Useing a marker and the bucket as a pattern, mark the panel with the outline of the french bucket.

3) After marking, check measurements again. Check for squareness and uniformity between both sides of vehicle.

4) When you are happy with the location, cut out the section marked. Stay to the inside of the marks for a tight fit.

5) Insert the bucket through the cut out area. Determine the depth you wish to place the bucket. Remember, for tail/stop lights, high visibility is preferred. Using a marker, outline the bucket to transfer the contour for cutting.

6) After cutting the bucket to the desired shape, refit into panel cut out. Trim if necessary to achieve uniform fit. Tack weld into place. Do not run a steady bead or place spot welds one after another. Skip from end to end and side to side to reduce the chances of heat warpage of the sheet metal.

7) Continue spot welding all the way around the french bucket. Remember, skip around and let the metal cool.

8) Grind all welds flush on the outside as well as inside the lip of the bucket. Apply plastic filler and sand to the correct contour.

9) Clean all areas with a wax and grease remover. Scuff sand the bucket and surrounding areas inside and out front and back.

10) Prime entire area inside and out. After proper cure time of the primer, apply seam sealer inside the back edge of the french bucket. Final sand and refinish!
